The Beijing 9 Series
In honor and commemoration of Zhou En Lai

I have created this series of nine images in response to the Chinese Book of Life. I have referenced Thomas Cleary’s translation of The Secret of The Golden Flower.
This book seems to reflect and encompass the essence of wisdom in its most profound practicality and meaning to our lives as humans. Zhou En Lai was a man who expressed this grace through his actions, and ultimately through his consciousness.
I have taken parts of the translation and created my own interpretive mapping. The paintings reflect the journey of returning to the true self who is all, everything and nothing – Being. The nine “levels” or “steps” also represent the chakras, or energy centers of the body — physically, intellectually, emotionally and spiritually.
I am deeply honored to share my vision and expression with the people of China.
